Abionic launches the first covid severity score helping healthcare professionals in patients’ triage.
Interview with Nicolas Durand, CEO at Abionic
Abionic has recently developed the cSOFA score (Covid-19 Sequential Organ Failure Assessment). This score allows physicians to identify critical patients rapidly. With a single drop of blood, the test is able to assess the likelihood of clinical deterioration of the relative patient supporting doctors in their clinical decisions. The subsequent effective patients’ triage will help optimizing clinical management, leading to a decrease pressure on the current healthcare system overload.
"The cSOFA score will democratize access to patient severity information in all hospital departments, not just intensive care as is currently the case. Emergency room physicians, for example, will be able to identify within five minutes and from a small drop of blood whether a patient should be immediately admitted to hospital or sent to intensive care. In the case of a serious bacterial infection such as sepsis, the doctor will even be able to identify the case for up to 72 hours earlier, allowing for proper treatment and greatly reducing the length of hospitalization." Nicolas Durand, CEO at Abionic.
