NewBiologix SA is a biotechnology company innovating Swiss-engineered solutions and technologies for gene and cell therapy production. The company combines a specialized focus in this field with deep expertise in cell line engineering. NewBiologix addresses gene therapy production limitations with its full suite of advanced cell lines and the Xcell™ Portfolio, a set of technologies designed to provide in-depth insights into rAAV quality. By enabling partners to produce more reliable, safer gene therapies faster and at scale, the company is shaping the future of patient health.
The role
As a Bioinformatics Scientist / Computational Biologist in our Genomics Lab, you’ll bridge high-throughput data generation and actionable biological insights. You’ll work with cutting-edge sequencing platforms (Illumina, PacBio/ONT, optical mapping), analysing and interpreting complex genomic data to optimize our CGT production platform.
Key responsibilities
Analyse and interpret large-scale genomics datasets (short- and long-read sequencing, optical mapping) as well as correlating results with measured phenotypes
Develop and optimize robust, reproducible data pipelines
Collaborate with wet-lab scientists on experimental design and troubleshooting
Integrate and visualize multi-omics data; clearly communicate findings
Stay current with the latest bioinformatics tools and literature
Required qualifications
Ph.D. or M.S. with 3+ years’ experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or related field
Strong conceptual knowledge of molecular biology, genetics, and hands-on experience in NGS data analysis (WGS, RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, viral/bacterial genome analysis)
Proficient in Python or R for data analysis and visualization, and software development; comfortable in Linux/Unix environments
Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written)
Bonus points for
A Ph.D. or Postdoc with a strong research background, demonstrated by publications or conference presentations in a relevant field
Demonstrated passion for biology and a strong interest in working closely with experimental biologists to understand and influence the data generation process.
Experience with long-read sequencing (PacBio/ONT), de novo assembly, structural variant analysis, mutation calling on short-read sequencing data.
Familiarity with workflow management (Nextflow, Snakemake), containerization (Docker), and cloud computing
Experience with machine learning or AI in bioinformatics
