Alithea Genomics is an EPFL spin-off company with headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland and a laboratory in Frederick, MD, USA, that specializes in providing innovative transcriptomics solutions for discovering new biomarkers and drug development. At the heart of our company's technology is BRB-seq, which utilizes highly multiplexed RNA barcoding to greatly enhance cost-efficiency and throughput during the RNA sequencing sample preparation process. We are committed to commercializing BRB-seq through our dedicated services and kits, while also continuously expanding our range of high-throughput transcriptomics products and applications through ongoing research and development efforts. Position
To continue our growth, we are seeking a creative, proactive, and motivated Bioinformatician / Data Scientist. The successful candidate will join our R&D team and help in the development of new tools and applications for transcriptomics analysis essential for the company business and future growth.
Responsibilities
• Develop, optimize, and execute advanced pipelines for pre-processing and analysis of transcriptomics data originating from our in-house multiplexed RNA-seq.
• Contribute to our DRUG-seq computational pipeline by incorporating innovative methods, integrating databases, and applying advanced computational techniques.
• Develop and optimize new methods and pipelines tailored for isoform-specific based on new protocols developed by our R&D team.
• Opportunity to contribute to writing manuscripts for the new methods we are developing.
• Communicate results and findings to team members and assist with interpreting results and generating hypotheses.
Qualifications
• Master’s degree or PhD specializing in Bioinformatics, Genomics, Data Science, or related fields.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, and Unix shell scripting, with prior experience using bioinformatic tools and databases.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• A must-have experience with short-read sequencing (Illumina, Element), with prior experience with singlecell RNA-seq data analysis highly desirable.
• Expertise with drug screening data or any perturbation-based transcriptomic data is a big plus.
• Experience handling long-read sequencing data, isoform quantification from short-read sequencing, or method development specific to paired end full-length RNA-seq, is a plus.
• Eligibility to work in Switzerland (Swiss work permit or Swiss/EU citizenship).
