New private laboratories, fresh ideas: Biopôle expands

Biopôle SA is expanding its infrastructure offer, with 2,000 m² of new fitted-out spaces in the upcoming Trypto building* due to open in October 2025. Designed for fast-growing start-ups in the life sciences sector (working in biotech, medtech, diagnostics and more), the new facilities include 18 private laboratories that combine autonomy with agility.

We know that scaling a life sciences company means navigating uncertainty, needing more space and autonomy, but without the burden of a long-term lease. That’s why our new private labs are designed to offer dedicated infrastructure, with the flexibility today’s scale-ups need.

At Biopôle, we’re committed to supporting start-ups through every stage of growth. These new private laboratory spaces are a natural next step in that journey, complementing the existing facilities at StartLab (Biopôle’s life sciences incubator, offering fully equipped co-working laboratory space) and Superlab (fully serviced laboratories, provided by SuperLab Suisse), which already host over 30 start-ups on campus.

Indeed, we’re thrilled to have created another flexible lab solution that gives companies their own space without the burden of a long-term lease. Plug and play infrastructure and shared technical facilities – including fume hoods room, a washing room, a freezers room and storage areas – allow companies to maintain cost efficiencies while scaling at their own pace. The new lab offering will also feature a full floor of private offices, as well as communal meeting rooms and a shared kitchenette to foster exchange.

Some of these new units have already been reserved, testifying to the demand for these spaces among growing companies in our ecosystem.

We’re proud to offer an integrated environment of comprehensive support, where innovation blossoms and life sciences companies thrive.
