Losinger Marazzi and Arcadie Win Tender for New Office and Laboratory Building at Biopôle

Biopôle SA has awarded the contract for the design and construction of its next office and laboratory building to Losinger Marazzi, a Swiss construction and real estate development company, in partnership with architecture firm Arcadie.

The project marks another important milestone in the continued expansion of the Biopôle campus, one of Europe’s leading life sciences hubs. The new development will become the 15th building on Biopôle’s campus and the 13th developed by Biopôle SA. Beyond providing essential infrastructure to support the growth of life sciences companies, this expansion will further strengthen the region’s life sciences ecosystem and foster collaboration, innovation and shared progress across the community.

Designed to meet the evolving needs of life sciences companies, the new building will feature nearly 10,000 m² of indoor area, together with 64 underground parking spaces. It will offer highly flexible office and laboratory spaces that can support a wide range of research, development and production activities. Shared amenities will create further opportunities for interaction, knowledge exchange and collaboration across the community. The ground floor will have a height clearance of more than four metres, allowing it to accommodate production-related activities.

Sustainability is a central element of the project. The building is designed to achieve Minergie-P certification and will integrate into the campus’s existing sustainability strategy, in line with the Nature & Economy Plus Certificate awarded to the site. This approach reflects Biopôle SA’s dedication to creating an environmentally responsible campus.

The project builds on Biopôle’s remarkable growth over the past decade. Since 2017, the campus’s built floor area has expanded from 33,000 m² to 91,000 m². Today, it is now home to more than 190 companies, 25 public research institutes and a community of over 3,500 professionals dedicated to advancing innovation in the life sciences.

By selecting Losinger Marazzi and Arcadie, Biopôle SA has chosen partners with the expertise to deliver a highly flexible, sustainable and future-ready facility. This new building will provide companies with the space they need to grow and create new opportunities for connection, collaboration and collective achievement within the Biopôle ecosystem and across the canton of Vaud’s innovation landscape.

From early 2028, Biopôle SA will begin marketing the building’s laboratory and office spaces to prospective tenants.

Congratulations to Losinger Marazzi and Arcadie on this exciting project. We look forward to seeing this new building take shape and contribute to the continued growth of the Biopôle community.
