Lausanne University Hospital ranked among the ten best hospitals worldwide
After a particularly challenging year for hospitals, the prestigious U.S. magazine Newsweek has once again included the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) in its list of the ten best hospitals in the world.
Newsweek magazine has included CHUV in its 2021 ranking of the ten best hospitals in the world, a ranking established on the basis of recommendations from a panel of doctors, healthcare professionals and administrators spread over four continents.
According to the American magazine, what happened in 2020 made everyone aware that our lives are more than ever dependent on unconditional access to quality healthcare. The 2,000 hospitals listed in this ranking stand out for their level of excellence in terms of patient care and technology.
Based in Lausanne in the canton of Vaud, the CHUV is ninth on a list that includes the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, the Cleveland Clinic, Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, all in the United States, as well as the Toronto General Hospital, Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset in Solna, Sweden, the University Hospital of Charity in Berlin and the Singapore General Hospital.
The ranking was established in partnership with Statista Inc, a company specializing in statistics and market research, which, along with Newsweek, has developed a complex methodology to ensure the quality and validity of the ranking.
Recognition for an institution of excellence at the heart of the Health Valley
"This is a wonderful recognition of the excellence of our institution, which is the result of the tremendous commitment of all our employees," explains Professor Philippe Eckert, Director of CHUV.
Already present in the top ten best hospitals in the world in 2019, CHUV conducted extensive research on the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
