Lead Robotics Engineer (80~100%)

Emovo Care (www.emovocare.com) is a medical device company developing robotic systems to support people with motor impairments. We are a spin-off from EPFL Switzerland, composed of a small team passionated about leaving a dent. In addition to restoring function, our purpose is driven by promoting inclusion of people with disabilities, through employment, community and co-creation.
Our first product is a hand exoskeleton for people with limited functions due to e.g. stroke.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We’re looking for a motivated Lead Robotics Engineer to join our dynamic and hard-working team. The ideal candidate has a strong engineering experience in mechanics, electronics, software, and within regulated environments (e.g. medical, automotive, aerospace).
The candidate will lead 1st-hand design+development, verification+validation, production and documentation for our 1st medical device, and for our next hardware and software products.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must have:
- Master Degree or Ph.D. in Robotics, Mechatronics Engineering, or related
- Experience with building real-world robots and mechatronics systems:
- CAD: Mechanical (Solidworks, Inventor, similar), and Electronics (Eagle, Altium, similar)
- Software: Python, C++, similar
- Hands-on: prototyping, manufacturing (3D printing, soldering), assembly, debugging
- Experience in regulated environments - ideally medical (technical documentation, risk management, etc.), and with quality systems (ISO 13485, 9001)
- Permit to work within European Union/Schengen
- Excellent communication skills in English (French, German are a plus)
Great to have (big plus to application!):
- Experience in developing and testing electromechanical medical devices within applicable regulations and standards (e.g. EU MDR, ISO 60601, etc.)
- Experience in managing commercial hardware products, including DFMA, production, supplier handling, repairs, support
- Experience with wearable systems, soft robotics, ergonomics, human factors
- Experience in project management (e.g. track record and/or certificates)
- A sincere wish to work with real users, and to help build a company culture around inclusion
