ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Lead AI Scientist to work closely with our multi-disciplinary team to define and drive Atinary’s research agenda. While this is a leadership role for a scientist with a strong track record in machine learning—shaping strategy, guiding the team, and translating state-of-the-art methods into real-world impact—it is also a hands-on position. You will actively develop code, contribute to the core codebase, and advance algorithm development, in addition to mentoring colleagues, scaling our research group, and representing Atinary in the global ML community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead a forward-looking research program in probabilistic modelling, Bayesian optimization, reinforcement learning, and decision-making.


• Define long-term research strategy and ensure alignment with Atinary’s mission and product roadmap.


• Grow the research team, fostering a culture of intellectual curiosity, bold experimentation, and collaboration.


• Contribute directly to research and development by designing, prototyping, and coding novel algorithms and models.


• Publish at top ML conferences and journals, while ensuring research translates into impactful applications in chemistry and pharma.


• Represent Atinary externally, building partnerships with academia and industry.


• Drive innovation by bridging deep technical research with customer-focused product development.


• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure smooth integration of research outputs into production systems.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• PhD with a strong research record in ML, probabilistic modelling, or optimization.


• Two-year industry experience.


• Demonstrated expertise in decision-making methods (Bayesian optimization, RL, active learning).


• Familiarity with probabilistic generative models and experience with large language models.


• Advanced proficiency in Python, PyTorch and BoTorch.


• Proven experience mentoring or leading research teams.


• Proficiency in English is required, as it is our primary working language


• Bonus: domain expertise in chemistry, materials science, or life sciences.
