Swiss Biobanking Platform

Initiated by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) in 2016, Swiss Biobanking Platform (SBP) is the reference research infrastructure of national importance supporting human and non-human biobanks.

Harmonizing the biobanks practice, SBP aims to respond to the increasing requests from biomedical researchers regarding the quality and the interconnectedness of biobanks for research purposes.

SBP provides a unique set of services for the research community at large and is focused on operational and easy to use tools and documentations, that are regularly updated according to international and national standards on biobanking.

SBP mission is the coordination and harmonization of biobanking activities to facilitate access to and optimal usage of high-quality biobanked specimens as well as the setup of research and even allow new research venues for the biobanks’ users (researchers, clinical research units, quality managers).
