Limenbio is a pre-clinical MedTech company developing HIPPER, a novel cardiac organ preservation platform that extends donor heart viability from 4 hours to 12+, autonomously, at a fraction of the cost of existing systems.
More than 1 in 3 viable donor hearts is discarded annually due to a logistics constraint unchanged for 40 years. No affordable, operator-independent solution exists for the majority of transplant programmes globally. HIPPER addresses that gap.
Limenbio is developing HIPPER, a high-pressure gas perfusion platform for cardiac organ preservation. The core innovation: delivering a controlled proprietary gas mixture through the donor heart’s coronary vasculature during transport, maintaining aerobic cellular metabolism and preventing the progressive damage that causes organ loss beyond 4–6 hours of cold static storage. More than 1 in 3 viable donor hearts is discarded annually because the current global standard, cold static storage, unchanged since the 1980s. The only systems that extend viability beyond this window cost up to USD 80,000 per use and require trained perfusion teams. HIPPER is designed to solve both problems simultaneously.
