One Day Media and Communications Workshop for Life Sciences companies at the Biopôle campus on November 13 2020
Media training is a specialized form of communications training that helps you to anticipate reporter behaviour, avoid common traps, and confidently focus on messaging. The workshop also helps you in improving your interactions with investors and partners. The one day training will be conducted by Daniel Piller, CEO of Piller Public GmbH (
www.piller-public.com). For nearly a decade, Daniel managed global media relations of Roche. Before this, he looked at companies from a journalistic perspective as business editor of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung. Since some years he is advising life sciences companies – form established corporates to newly founded start-up companies – in Communications and Public Affairs. As Biopôle is one of his clients he is familiar with the life sciences cluster of the Lausanne area.
Orientation and media education
Training participants learn about the current media landscape (focus on Swiss media, trade and medical media). You will be exposed to the basic concepts of media communication, including the ground rules of doing interviews and the “Do’s and Don’ts.” Examples will illustrate best practices and common media mistakes.
Practical media training
You will learn about the whole process from creating a media opportunity and story, preparing an interview, giving the interview and doing the follow up after the interview. We will teach you on how to develop and deliver your key messages and how to manage challenging situations.
The training will include follow-up support
Meaningful progress can be made in a single day of media training. However, you often will need specific advice when you face an important communications challenge. During the next 12 months we therefore offer individual follow-up communications advice for a specific communication challenge you might have (1 hour).
