Biopôle-based companies MoleSense and Impli have been selected among just eight international teams to participate in the SPRIND Continuous Hormone Monitoring Challenge, a €40 million initiative led by the German Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovation (SPRIND). The ambitious three-year programme aims to accelerate the world’s first real-time, continuous hormone monitoring solutions, opening new possibilities for precision medicine and women’s health.
As Stage I participants, each company has been awarded a €1.5 million pre-commercial research and development contract to develop technologies capable of continuous hormones monitoring. The two Biopôle companies bring complementary innovations to this challenge. MoleSense is developing a Wear & Forget®️ platform for continuous hormone monitoring that unifies ultra-low-power on-demand sedentary sweat extraction with aptamer-based multi-hormone nanobiosensing. Impli, meanwhile, is a developing a minimally invasive, needle-based device for continuous hormone monitoring aiming at improving diagnosis and treatment selection of Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS, formerly PCOS). The platform tracks a panel of reproductive and metabolic hormones at once over a multi-day wear period, giving a continuous hormonal profile rather than the isolated single-timepoint readings available from a standard blood draw.
Beyond the financial support, the SPRIND Challenge provides participating teams with access to an international network of scientific, clinical, and industrial experts to accelerate the translation of disruptive technologies into clinical applications. The selection of both MoleSense and Impli highlights the strength of the Biopôle ecosystem in next-generation biosensing and reinforces its position at the forefront of innovation in women’s health and precision medicine.
