The University Centre for General Medicine and Public Health, known as Unisanté, is active in areas such as research, academic training, prevention and care. Pioneer and unique in Switzerland, it promotes interdisciplinarity and combination of skills committed to health issues.

The Health Promotion and Prevention Department (DPSP) of Unisanté provides collective information and awareness-raising services and assists local authorities in the process of obtaining certification for health-friendly environments. The DPSP also offers individual consultations on cardiovascular prevention, cholesterol, tobaccoology, dietetics and physical activity advice. It also conducts biomedical and clinical research for the prevention of chronic diseases.

For this department, we are looking for a:

Post-Doctoral position for an epigenetic project (100%)


Your main activities will be the following:


The proposed project aims to validate a new cardiovascular epigenetic signature and to discover new biological mechanisms associated with cardiovascular risk. The project is funded by Innosuisse, which supports science-based innovation projects and is carried out in collaboration with an industrial partner in biomedical analysis.

  • Execution of research activities in the field of epigenetic epidemiology within a private-academic partnership ;

  • Analysis of epigenetic data (DNA methylation) of participants in case-control and cohort studies ;

  • Statistical analysis of data using models with a strong biostatistical component ;

  • Literature review and writing of scientific publications on the research conducted ;

  • Study on the improvement of the stability of epigenetic signatures developed by the industrial partner ;

  • Study of the analysis of transition pathways to better understand the products developed by the industrial partner at the biological level ;

  • Study of the causal pathways of a signature linked with cardiovascular diseases ;

  • Coordination with the private partner, the laboratory and/or research groups.


Your profile :



  • Practical experience and theoretical knowledge in statistics and genetics, PhD in molecular biology, biostatistics, bioinformatics or other related fields ;

  • Experience in handling large-scale datasets and/or molecular data ;

  • Proficiency in the R programming language; and experience with Python or another programming language an advantage ;

  • Fluency in English, additional knowledge of French an advantage ;

  • Knowledge of molecular biology, genetics and epigenetics an asset ;

  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team ;

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
