LEGAL ESSENTIALS: IP licensing and data protection

Biopôle is delighted to partner with Lenz & Staehelin for LEGAL ESSENTIALS, an exclusive series of three interactive seminars focusing on intellectual property (IP) protection, equity incentive plans, taxation and stakeholder relations management.

At the first session, on Thursday 6 April, Sevan Antreasyan and Emilie Jacot-Guillarmod will help us understand how to secure your company’s IP in a licensing context while avoiding the pitfalls you encounter when building a data-driven business. For early-stage pharma and biotech companies, comprehensive IP strategies do more than protect innovation in R&D activities. They set the stage for their company’s long-term success – helping to raise funds, attract partners and expand into new markets. Data management questions often arise at the same time.

This series of seminars is aimed at top executives from companies working in the field of life sciences, from medtech to drug development. Attendees will benefit from interactive discussion with the speakers, who will present various case studies from the real-life experiences gathered during their work as consultants.

The first seminar will cover the following topics:

  • Licensing ‘basics’ (commonly understated provisions, representations and warranties, liabilities)

  • Licensing with public and research institutions

  • Data-sharing agreements

  • Swiss and EU (GDPR) data protection basics (core concepts, dos and don’ts)

  • Collection, use and storage of medical data for R&D

AGENDA

  • 12:00 Welcome sandwiches and drinks, provided by Biopôle SA

  • 12:15 Introductory topic presentation

  • 12:30 Presentation of case studies with interactive discussion

  • 13:30 Networking coffee with the speakers

  • 14:00 End of the event

The speakers will also be available between 14:00 and 17:00 for individual half-hour consulting meetings, please book directly when registering.
